Hi guys,
I know its been a minute since my last post. The truth is, all the design work has kept me so busy that finding time to blog about what I’ve been up to had been put on the back burner. Well, It’s a new year and one of my goals is to get back to it. I’ll have all my projects photographed and actually post the before and after pictures. After all, that’s the sweetest part isn’t it? I’ll also be expanding on the great web and adding a brand new website which is coming this February so be on the lookout for that.
One of my big projects last year was renovating the clubhouse for an apartment complex here in Las Vegas. The before and after pictures are dramatic and I’m thrilled with the final result.
So this is where we started. Basking in it’s 1980s glory. Yikes right? It was basically begging to be destroyed.
The main goal of this project was obviously to bring it out of the 1980s and into this decade. Brightening up the space was a must and we started by scraping the popcorn ceilings (which I had to convince the owner to do – thank goodness she went for it) painting over the ugly yellow walls, removing the tired old carpet and replacing them with fresh new flooring.
These floors are actually Vinyl, and I chose to go with these extra long and wide vinyl planks for several reasons. They’re more durable, 100% water proof and they look just like the real thing (trust me, if I didn’t tell you they were vinyl, you’d never know) I also love how clean and bright these ones are.
Walls are Sherwin William Repose gray (one of my all time favorites and my go-to gray) ceilings and baseboards are a flat pure white. In the kitchen I removed the upper cabinets since they don’t need a ton of storage and it made the space feel so much bigger. We put up this white mosaic backsplash vertically to reflect light and add texture. The cabinet color might be one of my favorite parts of the space. I went with Sherwin Williams Waterloo in a satin finish. It turned out to be just the right amount of unexpected.
As for the furniture and décor, I wanted to keep it transitional and mostly neutral with some unexpected pops of blush. The goal is to give this space longevity and a relaxing place for residence of this community to relax and gather.
I shopped several different furniture brands and brought almost everything in directly from the manufacturers to save money. I stuck with TOV and Classic Home and Four Hands and Down East Home Lighting is from West Elm and sconces from Lighting Direct If you want more information on individual pieces and where to buy them please message me and I’m happy to share!
So, que the balloon drop because here is the final result:
Thanks for checking in, looking forward to hearing your comments and feedback. Stay turned for what’s to come, I have a lot in the works right now and looking forward to expanding in 2019!
