Well hey there guys!
I’m so freaking excited about how great our family photos turned out this year. I mean come on… for two three year olds to corporate, stay relatively clean and happy throughout this photo shoot was nothing short of a miracle. We take these pictures every year and it doesn’t always go so swimmingly… So I’ll call this my first present of the holiday season!
So lets chat outfits. I usually go for a neutral theme. Something about black, white and grey really turns me on (not in that way guys!) I like the sleekness of it and I’m not a fan of matchy matchy, everyone wearing red and green type of photos. I dress my kids as I would dress myself. I like them in cool, stylish clothes. Who says that because they’re kids they have to dress in clothes with Thomas the Train plastered on the front of their shirts? No thanks. For the kids I love shopping at Zara Kids, Gap, Nordstrom, Joy Folie, and Old Navy. Seriously you can find really super cute stuff at amazing prices if you’re willing to look. You’ll see, this stuff isn’t costing me a fortune, it’s just all about how you put it together. Add cute boots, a vest, maybe a scarf and blam… you’re kid is the coolest kid in school.
So here we go. This is where you can find our outfits from this photo shoot:
On Violet:
Dress with Sequin collar I die for this dress! So simple yet so cute. She’ll get a lot of wear out of this one too!
Studded biker ankle boots I literally want these for myself!
Cable knit tights How stinkin cute are these?
On Asher:
Basic grey jeans Simple denim but the grey gives it a little something extra.
Botton neck top This was less than $10 and comes in a ton of colors. I bought him like 8 of them!
Quilted vest Add a vest to your kid and he instantly looks like he’s rockin out!
Leather “street” converse sneaker classic with a twist.
On Charlie:
For Charlie I always keep things simple. Like all men, he’s picky about his clothes so I basically let him choose his own outfits…even for picture day. Lucky guy huh? Here are his outfit deets:
James Perse Button top (He loves loves James Perse! Super soft cotton, they wear so well and will last and last! You’ll spend a pretty penny here but it’s worth it for the quality!
Lucky Brand jeans These jeans are on major sale right now! Score!
Cole Haan Grand Pro sneaker He loves these so much that they’re actually his second pair of these same shoes. They dress up the ordinary outfit but still wear like a sneaker.
On me:
Last but not least is my outfit. It’s always the hardest to style myself. Maybe because I’m the most critical of myself (aren’t we all?) Like always, I kept myself casual and comfortable. I figured if I’m comfortable in what I’m wearing it’ll show in the photos. So here is where you can go get everything:
Paige Jeans These jeans are the bomb! God, they’re so comfortable and the distressing is just enough. Bonus: they’re 25% off at Nordstrom right now! Holla!
Treasure & Bond booties (My exact booties are sold out but these are similar *and cheaper* whoop!)
Anthro twist front top This comes in a TON of different colors too! I’ll wear them all year long!
Black moto jacket (My jacket is like years old and I can’t find it anymore. This one from Urban Outfitters is really similar)
Hinge scarf Wrap this thing around me every damn day! It’s so soft, so comfy, and so so cute! This baby goes with everything and keeps me oh so warm. It’s only $36! Umm, yea!!! Go get yo-self one!
So I hope this brings you some inspiration. If you’re dressing yourself, your hubby or your whole family there are some pretty good ideas to work with here. Don’t be afraid to keep things casual but take some unexpected risks. Add an accessory, punch it up with jewelry (carry a Starbucks cup around with you, haha) just go for it!
Happy holiday photo-ing to you all!
Peace AND love!
Kelly
p.s. got questions? leave em’ in the comments and I’ll get right back to ya! Oh yea… I did Violet’s hair myself (snap!)
