Almost three years ago Charlie and I purchased this house. One of the conditions from him was that I NOT change the master bedroom. He clearly really liked it how it was. I wanted the house so badly that I agreed (fully knowing that I would slowly mind trick him into letting me re-do it at some point) Anyway, here we are all these years later and my power of persuasion has finally worked.
It became sort of a joke in our house and everytime we had guests over we’d walk them into the bedroom and wait to hear if they were “Team Charlie” (Keep it just the way it was) or “Team Kelly” (tear it all out as fast as possible). To my surprise it was pretty 50/50. But who cares, in the end I won *Insert evil laugh here*
So, the gladiator (are those gladiators?) wallpaper came down and this stunning paper from Lulu and Georgia went up in it’s place. Charlie likes to think that he picked this paper… do not be fooled. He did not. I’ll take full credit here.
I painted over the gray walls with Sherwin Williams Toque White to brighten it up. The ceiling got a coat of the darkest navy paint to add an unexpected dimension. That color is Sherwin Williams Anchors Aweigh . The chandelier if from Restoration Hardware.
The entire design was pretty much based around this vintage rug and vintage sofa. I knew I wanted a rich red rug and mixing vintage with modern is kinda my thang. I partnered with Miami Vintage Rugs and I wasn’t disappointed. If you’re in the market, they have a huge selection of beautifully restored vintage beauties.
Other accessories like the globe lamps you can find here and the cool little brass mirrors here and plant stands here.
So finally I feel like I’m sleeping in MY bedroom. Charlie is happy also and that’s truly the win in all of this.
What do you think?
